1) Official name: Republic of Poland (abbreviated name: Poland)

3) Location: Central Europe. Poland borders Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Ukraine, Belarus, Lithuania and Russia (Kaliningrad Oblast). Its northern border (440 km long) runs along the coast of the Baltic Sea.

4) Capital city: Warsaw (population 1.7 million / Warsaw agglomeration: 2.5 million).

5) Population: 38 million. Poland’s population is the seventh largest in Europe (excluding Russia) and the sixth largest in the European Union.

6) Time Zone: Poland is in the Central European time zone (GMT + 1 / UTC + 1 hour), except from the last Sunday in March to the last Sunday in October, when daylight saving time is used.

7) Climate: Poland has a temperate continental climate, with fairly cool winters (December to March) and hot summers that last from June to August. Average January temperatures range from -1°C (30°F) to -5°C (23°F). In July and August, average temperatures range from 62°F (16.5°C) to 65°F (19°C), although some days temperatures can reach 95°F (35°C).
